The Story

How much do you really know about impossible things?

As a kid, Helder Guimarães always loved the book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. But his whole perspective of the story changed when he stumbled upon a copy with handwritten annotations. Forever in One Second is the story of that moment and everything that followed, culminating with an unexpected Christmas gift to be shared with the audience. The world imagined by Lewis Carroll is just the starting point of this adventure, populated by a genius mathematician, a unique book collection, an unlucky conman, and one illustration from Salvador Dali.

Helder will have you question the limits of reality and what you see in front of your very eyes. Combining real-life stories and impossible feats, this 60-minute performance is perfect for your next event, big or small. Fun, playful, and witty, Forever in One Second is as pure an experience of sleight-of-hand magic and storytelling as you will ever see. By the end of this performance, you may feel like Alice when the author says: “She had begun to think that very few things indeed were really impossible.”

The Los Angeles Times

“As a rule, Guimarães is in no rush to clear up mysteries. He cultivates them the way a horticulturalist cultivates flowering vines. But he isn’t out to deceive. Or rather deception is put in the service of enlightenment.”

“From my ring-side, front-row seat, you would think I could see his sleight-of-hand artistry up close enough to figure out what was going on. But no, I could not, and his belief that we will never know everything—and that mystery is a beautiful thing—sets the perfect tone for a night of wonder while in the presence of his electrifying prestidigitation.”
